MOUNT VERNON — Mary Jane McClain, 72, of Mount Vernon passed away May 24, 2010, at the Country Club Retirement Campus surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 30, 1937, in Mount Vernon to Carl and Gladys (Deem) Henthorn. Mary Jane was a former member of the First Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Kim (Kurt) Lepley of Mount Vernon and Theresa (Tim) Strauch of Missoula, Mont.; three sons, Kevin (Maria) McClain of Philadelphia, Pa., Brian (Donna) McClain of Mount Vernon and Michael (Marcia) McClain of Spring City, Pa.; grandchildren, Patrick, Thomas, Ashlee, Matt, Gabriel, Luke, Catrina, Becky, Brian, Zach, Bradie, Miles, Cora and Braehm; four great-grandchildren; one brother, William B. Henthorn of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick McClain; brother, Robert B. Henthron; three sisters, Wanda Speaks, Carolyn Spearman and Bernida Sammon; and one daughter-in-law, Florence McClain.

Friends and family of Mary Jane McClain may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert Alexander will officiate. The family will observe a private burial in Mound View Cemetery.
