MOUNT VERNON — Emelie B. Shotts, 67, of Mount Vernon passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, May 25, 2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born Sept. 11, 1942, in Mount Vernon, daughter of the late Paul B. and Barbara J. (LaFever) Fant. Emelie retired from the Mount Vernon Development Center with 38 years of faithful service. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. Emelie was an avid reader, loved nature, and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Emelie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Shotts of Mount Vernon; a son, Kenneth (Kelly) Shotts of Middleton, Idaho; a granddaughter, Karley; a brother, Paul B. (Kathy) Fant Jr. of Thornville; and a sister, Jane (David) Isaacs of Columbus.

In following with Emelie’s wish, the family will have a gathering of friends at a later date.
