MANSFIELD — Evalyn Joan “Jo” Schmidt, resident of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2010, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born on July 27, 1931, to the late Paul and Myrtle Wilson and married to Carl A. Schmidt, who preceded her in death on April 9, 2006. Jo retired from the former Sprint-United Telephone after 37 years of dedicated service. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, and a former Eastern Star and Ohio Telephone Pioneer member.
She is survived by a daughter, Valerie (Tom) Brown of Bucyrus; son, Casper (Leora) Schmidt of Fredericktown; son, Carl (Marcia) Schmidt of California; brother, Ed (Nancy) Wilson of Galion; sister-in-law, Marsha Wilson of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial will be held Sunday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at the Mansfield Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Cancer Society.
