MOUNT VERNON — Clifton “Cliff” Durbin, 80, of Mount Vernon died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Cliff was born May 16, 1930, in Knox County to Ross and Cora (Lybarger) Durbin and had spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He had been employed at Pond Tire Service in Mount Vernon for 25 years and retired from the JB Foote Foundry in Fredericktown in 1992. Cliff was honored to have served as a Pleasant Township trustee for 43 years and was a 50-year member of Pleasant Grange. He had served as a member and past president of the Knox County Fair Board and had served on the Knox County Republican Party Executive Committee. Cliff had served as the director of the Knox County Civil Defense and Disaster Relief during the 1959 flood.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (Kochis) Durbin; his children, Stephen (Mishelle) Durbin of Mount Vernon, Dennis Durbin of Arizona, Linda Craig of Niceville, Fla., Andrew Durbin of Martinsburg and Dianna (Brian Pokosh) Durbin of Hilliard; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his canine companion, Molly.

Friends may call Tuesday, June 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., where funeral services will be Wednesday, June 9, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
