SPARTA — Mae Linkous, 83, of Sparta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 12, 1926, in Keystone, W.Va., to the late Ralph and Gladys (Gillenwater) Young. Mae was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother and could always be found attending her children and grandchildren’s events. Mae was a very spiritual woman and served in many leadership roles at the Sparta Advent Christian Church. Mae was an avid bowler with the ladies of Chesterville.

She is survived by her son, Michael Edward (Diana) Linkous of Marengo; two daughters, Betty (James) Gray of Marengo and Linda (Greg) Sands of Centerburg; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Linkous of Sparta; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Story of Sacramento, Calif.; and a half brother, Kenneth (Patricia) Young of Greensboro, S.C.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Linkous; a son, Robert Wesley Linkous; and a brother, James Wesley Young.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dave Keefer will officiate. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery in Sparta.
