DANVILLE — Roland E. Wiford, 66, of Danville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 8, 1944, in Logansville, Ohio, to the late Leland and La Donna (Young) Wiford. Roland had four things of most importance in his life, God, family, farming and people. He held a minister’s license with the International Conservative Holiness Association, served as a treasurer for the Camp Gilead Bible Camp and served his church in various leadership roles. Roland was a member of the Delaware Bible Holiness Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Darlene (Heiland) Wiford; four sons, Duane (Monet) Wiford of Mount Vernon, the Rev. Tim (Elizabeth) Wiford of Anderson, Ind., Nathan (Cheryl) Wiford of Sardinia, Ohio, and Benjamin Wiford of Danville; a daughter, Rachel (Luke) Byer of Cardington; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Wiford of LaGrange, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Sam (Pat) Wiford of Wapakoneta; three sisters, Kathy Maxwell of Sidney, Ohio, Janice Wiford and Melanie Wiford, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Wiford; four grandchildren; and a brother, Jerald Wiford.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Pastor Aaron Hamilton will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
