MOUNT VERNON — Robert L. “Jollie” Jolliff, 59, of Mount Vernon died Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness.
Jollie was born Aug. 12, 1950, in Knox County to the late Rollin E. and Mary Louise (Haas) Jolliff, was a 1968 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he had been for employed for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor on the highway maintenance crew.
Jollie enjoyed time spent on his boat at lake Erie with his friends fishing. He was an avid fan of Ohio State Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. Jollie was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his sisters, Joan (James) Raymond and Linda (Joseph) Street, both of Mount Vernon, and B. Jean Jolliff of Logan; many nieces and nephews; his feline companion, a striped tiger cat named Tom Boy; and his many friends at ODOT.
Friends may call Friday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a service celebrating the life of Robert E. “Jollie” Jolliff will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
