BELLVILLE — Ralph L. Long died June 24, 2010, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

He was born Feb. 1, 1927, to Ernest and Edythe Long in Bellville. His entire life, except for his two stints in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, was spent in Bellville. He taught at Clear Fork High School for over 25 years.

Survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Roma Paulsen and Gail Balser; son, Lyle Long; a brother, Roger Long; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; former wife, Christine Long; brother, Fredrick Long; sister, Bonita Hamilton; and a great-grandson, Heath Skok.

Family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Beverly Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery, where American Legion Post 535 will hold graveside military honors.

Contributions to the Ashland County Humane Society may be made at the funeral home;
