MOUNT VERNON — Pauline M. “Polly” Clark, 82, of Mount Vernon passed away Friday morning, July 2, 2010, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother has passed from this earthly home to her heavenly home. Polly was born in Danville to Bernard and Marilla (Welker) Mickley. She was a vigorous and involved member of St. Vincent de Paul Church for 60 years and a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4027. Her life revolved around her family and friends and all the people whose lives she touched became better individuals. She loved to garden and was an active member of the Green Valley Garden Club for many years. Polly was always an active and energetic mother whether being a room mother, den mother, chaperone, chauffeur or mentor, not only for her children but for others. Her working career included several years at Timken, Shellmar and as a cook at Kenyon College. She was an inspiring lady, always trying to help those less fortunate. Polly was a good friend to all, always ready to share a smile, bake a pie or lend a helping hand or a shoulder. She will not only be missed but her passing leaves an empty spot in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John; her children, Mike (Linda), Patrice (Steve Belmont), Jack, J.D. (Brigette) and Doug (Tara); her grandchildren, Joe (Belmont), Travis, Brian, Stephanie, Haley, Tommy, Shelby, Alex, Morgan; her great-grandchildren, Caleb and Reece (Belmont); sisters, Helen (Thorp), Elsie May (Bill Dye); sister-in-law, Ann (Ausking); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, her dear friends, Gerane Rohner and Betty Lou Dailey, along with all the wonderful friends whose lives have intertwined with hers through the years.
