MOUNT VERNON — Vivien Ebie, 92, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Canton, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Emeritus at HillenVale in Mount Vernon.

Vivien was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Berlin, Pa., to Stewart and Helen Grace (Jones) Fritz. During the Korean War, Vivien worked for the Hoover Corp. in North Canton and for 20 years served as a volunteer “Gray Lady” for the American Red Cross at Mercy Hospital and Altman Hospital both in Canton.

She was a member of the Warsaw Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Order Of Eastern Star in Canton for over 65 years.

Surviving are her husband, Carl Ebie, whom she married July 29, 1936; her daughter, Carlyn Drewyor of Hobe Sound, Fla.; her son, Daniel (Anne) Ebie of Grapevine, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Phillip Fritz of Berlin, Pa.; and her sister, Marjorie Meese of Berlin, Pa.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ebie; a sister, Jacqueline Kemp; and brothers, Stewart Fritz and Raymond Duff.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the funeral service. Graveside committal services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Canton.
