DELAWARE — The Rev. Harold M. Holmes, 86, of Delaware died Sunday, July 4, 2010.

He was born May 10, 1924, in Willard to Howard and Marjorie (Sparks) Holmes. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He ministered to eight church communities.

Survived by wife, Nellie (Saunders); daughters, Sarah Curtiss, Christina Hunter, Debbie Seymour; son, Daniel Holmes; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Pelcher, Glenda Duncan, Janice Nead and Linda Howell; brother, Larry Holmes.

Preceded in death by his son, Tim; brothers, Wendell, John, Glen, Gerald; and sister, Loris Gayheart.

Friends may call Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Vans Valley Community Church, 14440 Ohio 37 E, Sunbury, where a service will follow at noon. Graveside services will follow at the New Haven Maple Grove Cemetery in Willard with military honors at 4 p.m.
