MOUNT VERNON — Homer J. Ramsey, 78, of Mount Vernon died July, 8, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Newark to the late Ernest and Arlene (Gaumer) Ramsey. Homer retired from Copper-Bessemer after 40 years of service with then as a field service mechanic. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David (Judy) Ramsey of Mansfield; a brother, Donald (Kathryn) Ramsey of Warsaw; a sister, Ruth (Joe) Nelson of Vermont; two grandchildren, Bryan (Kate) Ramsey of Utica and Brittney Ramsey of Howard; a great-grandson, Coen Ramsey; nieces, Donna Ramsey of Pataskala and Tammy (Wendell) Whittington of Florida.

Homer was preceded in death by his son, Paul Ramsey.

Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Family will observe private burial.
