MOUNT VERNON — Zondra Y. McDonald, 76, of Bishop Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 13, 1934, in Knox County, Ohio, to the late William and Gladys (Hall) Bevington. Zondra was a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church. Her husband, family and little dog Skippy were the most important things in her life. She truly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Zondra considered her job title as “domestic engineer” and will be remembered for her caring ways and hospitality that she had provided for so many friends and family members. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, woodworking, painting and baking homemade bread.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Carl L. McDonald; two sons, Daniel McDonald of Mount Vernon and Roger (Yvonne) McDonald of Mount Vernon; three daughters, Sharon (Daniel) McFarland of Mount Vernon, Joanna (Dave) Park of Centerburg and Pamela (Terry) Hissong of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Mary) Bevington of Mount Vernon; a sister, Pat (Walter) McCutchen of Homer; and her canine companion, Skippy.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Bevington, Billy Bevington and Gary Bevington.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. Elder Fred Shoemaker will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
