MOUNT VERNON — Jim C. Hunter Sr., 62, of New Delaware Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 5, 1948, in Mount Vernon to the late Harry and Edna (Jackson) Hunter. Jim loved farming and was an avid collector of full-size and toy tractors. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Mount Vernon.

He is survived by his children, Jeni Rew of Mount Vernon, Carma (Dave Priest) Hunter of Mount Vernon, Kimmie (Jason) Hinkle of Mount Vernon and Jim (Amy) Hunter Jr. of Fredericktown; six grandchildren, Scott (Kaitlyn) Hinkle and Tony Hinkle, Lane and Kendall Hinkle, Ethan Hunter and Caleb Hite; a great-grandson, Nickolas Hinkle; four brothers, Ron Hunter, Ed (Patty) Hunter, Phil (Maggie) Hunter, John (Candy) Hunter, all of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Donna (Lyle) Berg of Mount Vernon and Bonnie (Randy) Coffing of Fredericktown; his companion, Kara Cherryholmes, and daughter, Ana Wirick; and his canine buddies, Brutus and Atlas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
