FREDERICKTOWN — Viola Lamb, 78, of Waterford Road, Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Med Central Hospital in Mansfield after a short illness.
She was born April 28, 1932, in Knox County to the late William and Grace (Myers) Litt. Vi was a 1950 graduate of Bellville High School and enjoyed fellowship with the “Nifty Fifty” gals for the past several years. She was primarily a homemaker but had worked several years at Chattanooga Glass in Mount Vernon, and Sears and Roebuck in Muskegon, Mich.
Vi and her husband, Russell, were youth leaders in Millbrook, Pa., and Muskegon, Mich. She was an avid bowler and won many trophies while bowling in several leagues. Vi enjoyed crocheting with family members and donated items she made to Toy Time in Mansfield. She loved music and served in many church choirs and enjoyed listening to her family sing. No matter where Vi lived, she would always find some friends for a good game of cards.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Lamb, whom she married on July 6, 1951; sons, Michael (Marilyn) Lamb of Fredericktown, Jerry (Sharon) Lamb of Brandon, Steve Lamb of Mount Vernon and Keven (Karma) Lamb of Fredericktown; nine grandchildren, Kyle Lamb, Marie (Brett) Coffing, Kristen (Jason) Hommel, Clay Lamb, Bethany Lamb, Kristopher (Amanda) Lamb, Jeremy Lamb, Carin (Arthur) Cain and Trisha (Earnest) Vargo; eight great-grandchildren; two honorary grandchildren from the church, Albany and Mason Finnell; sisters, Eleanor Burwell of Westerville, Ruth Ann (Clarence) Bunnell of Fredericktown; brothers, Wendell (Bernice) Litt of New Concord, George (Susie) Litt of Carrollton, Leroy (Bonnie) Litt of Mount Vernon; and sister-in-law, Mildred Litt of Bellville.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Litt and Ralph Litt.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Fredericktown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Ankenytown Cemetery.
