FREDERICKTOWN — Barbara A. Parker, 53, of Miami Avenue, Fredericktown, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.

She was born Oct. 16, 1956, in Mount Vernon to Eugene and Sylvia (Cagwin) McCoy Sr. Barbara received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bowling Green State University and her master’s degree in education from The Ohio State University. Barbara taught in the Fredericktown school system for 15 years where she achieved her National Board Certification. She was a member of the Fredericktown First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending her free time swimming, reading, scrapbooking and visiting with friends and family.

Besides her parents she is survived by her husband, Tom Parker, whom she married Oct. 24, 1981; two daughters, Sarah (Adam) Hunter of Mansfield and Angie Parker of Falls Church, Va.; two brothers, Gene (Jody) McCoy Jr. of Ord, Neb., and Tim (Theresa) McCoy of Osage City, Kan.; and a sister, Susan (Tom) Long of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Michael McCoy.

Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Fredericktown First Baptist Church. Pastor Mary Miller will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
