MOUNT VERNON — Mary Kathryn Guinther, 90, passed away in peace at her residence at HillenVale on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010. She is now resting in the arms of her beloved husband, Don, after 67 years of marriage, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2009.
She was born July 24, 1920, in Bucyrus to the late Frank and Gertrude (Rinker) Oberlander. Mary was blessed with many talents. She loved to sew, crochet and do crafts. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at HillenVale. Most of all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mary was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was active in many of the church groups.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandie (Marvin) Workman; granddaughter, Christine (Clint) Kanuckel; grandson, Tim (Patty) Workman; great-grandchildren, Clinton and Caitlyn Kanuckel and Brittany and Alec Workman; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, James and William Oberlander; and a sister, Marjorie Oberlander.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Wildermuth officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Mary Kathryn Guinther family.
