MOUNT VERNON — On Aug. 13,
2010, the world lost a friend. His wife, Linda; children, Jim Swetlic Jr. and
Beckie; grandchildren, Summer and Dylan Swetlic; daughters, Connie and Jim Edick
and Theo MacQuaid of Virginia; brother, Bob Swetlic; sisters, Jeanine Larson
and Linda Steffey; nieces and nephews and many more loved ones, will hold his
memory close to their hearts.
Our beloved did not need a name to become a friend. He carried a ray of sunshine
in his pocket and shared freely with all that crossed his path, there were no
strangers or boundaries. Jim was a rare example of unconditional and unending
love for all to receive.
Jim followed his own beat of the drum and created a dance that was uniquely his
own. Seeing life in vibrant color led to adventures and travel and seeing the
sunrise in the desert was a favorite. This art of seeing led to mastering stone
masonry, building phenomenal pieces of art from scraps, and transforming his
home into a secret garden for his beloved wife and Sadie their black lab.
Jim was an intellectual person, using his genius mind to challenge the rules.
While listening to classical music, wearing his infamous “Skirt” i.e.
kokoia; there would be conversations of everything from the simple things made
interesting to the complexity of quantum physics. Jim opened our minds to the
infinite possibilities of humanity. The wisdom of this man created generational
changes. To let the past go and open to the future was one of Jim’s many
teachings.
As much as Jim loved people, he also loved his pets, a good thunderstorm and
nature. He knew who he was and lived his life with grace and dignity, leaving
us with the memories of a truly unique individual.
And as Jim would say …
“See you in the future.”
On a later date family and friends will celebrate Jim’s life. All memorial
gifts, please forward to the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital,
1330 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
