MOUNT VERNON — W. Frances Myers, 95, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Aug.
20, 2010, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
Frances was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Martin and Minnie (Smith)
Jones. She moved to Marion, Ohio, with her family and graduated from Marion Harding
High School. After high school she moved to Mount Vernon, where she retired from
Mount Vernon High School as head of the food services.
Frances was a member of the First Church of God, 1 Pine St., Mount Vernon. She
was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, AMVETS Auxiliary, American Legion, Moose
Lodge, Elks Lodge and Order of Eastern Star, all in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her daughter, Wilma Rosan Myers of Mount Vernon; her son, Lewis
A. (Debra) Myers II of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;
and her sisters, Mary Margaret Croner of Columbus and Barbara Jeanette Byrd of
Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Myers
I; a son, Maurice Jones; a sister, Alice Helen Oglesbee; and brothers, Sherman
Eugene Jones and Dr. James Martin Jones.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral
Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. William Fulda officiating.
Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home two hours before the funeral service.
