MOUNT VERNON — Billie Joann Summers, 83, of Mount Vernon passed away Aug. 24, 2010, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Pike County, Ky., to the late Trimble Madison and Lonalee (Farmer) Allen. Billie was a member of the East Side Church of Christ.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Bobby Eugene Summers; two sons, Harry Smutzer of Tinley Park, Ill., and Danny E. (Brenda) Summers of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Barbara L. (Stephen) Sooter of Independence, Mo.; sisters, Dorothy Maxwell of Abingdon, Va., and Lillian Bottzie of Lexington, Ky.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Billie was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Allen.

Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the East Side Church of Christ, 1120 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Minister Rich Tincher officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Summers family.
