MOUNT VERNON — Elizabeth L. Wolfe, 87, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon.
Elizabeth was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., to Rae and Daisy (Long) McConnell. She retired in 1986 from the Mount Vernon City Schools where she had been employed for 29 years as a schoolteacher. Elizabeth was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Mount Vernon. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Knox Chapter 236 Order of Eastern Star in Mount Vernon, had been an active member of the Mount Vernon Little League Association at Phillips Park in Mount Vernon, and had served a number of years as a 4-H Leader.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Philip (Mary Jane) Wolfe of Duluth, Ga., Peggy (William) Pursel of Mount Vernon, Lou Ann (David) Bouchard of Mount Vernon; daughter-in-law, Laurie Wolfe; seven grandchildren, Athena (James) Maynor, Adam (Molly) Pursel, Bobby Wolfe, Matt Pursel, Angie (Andrew) Thompson, Nicole Bouchard and Andy Bouchard; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Daniels of Mount Vernon and Mary Miller of Danville.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell C. Wolfe; her son, Robert W. Wolfe; and her brother, William McConnell.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
