MOUNT VERNON — Charles Voight Fox, 88, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at the Ohio State University Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Midway, Ky., to the late Bryant and Maggie (Johnson) Fox Sr. Charles spent most of his life in the Mount Vernon area where he worked in Research and Development for Continental Can Co. After his retirement, he and his brother, Bryant Fox, owned and operated Fox-Pax Inc. Charles traveled the world working eight years for International Executive Service Corps., helping corporations in third-world countries solve production problems. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many years of playing golf, building furniture, remodeling homes and making picture frames for the family. He loved his wife and children and completely delighted in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles counted his friends as treasures and loved God with his whole heart.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Linda (Lanning) Fox; two sons, William C. (Sherrie) Fox of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Dr. Ronald (Dr. Candace) Fox of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Charlyn B. (Eric) Green of Myerstown, Pa., and Debra M. (Edward) Thomas of Statesville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Laura Fox Vinson, Misti Fox Spires, C.C. Fox, Dayna Fox Fitch, Mandy Fox Campos, Melissa Fox Holmes, Brad Fox, Matt Fox, Brian McCann, Eric McCann, Maggie McCann Hesson and Ralph Thomas; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bryant (Sue) Fox.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Anna Fox; a sister, Jane Yocum; and three brothers, John, Sherman and Jim Fox.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene where friends may call one hour prior. The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date in St. John Cemetery.
