ST. LOUISVILLE — Jimmie L. Jones, 77, of St. Louisville died unexpectedly on Aug. 23, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 3, 1932, in Glenmont, Ohio, to the late Harvey and Maude (Capshaw) Jones. Jimmie was U.S. Army veteran who spent 18 months in Korea and was honorably discharged in June 1953. He had worked for Porter Brothers, Osborn and Gratiot Drilling from 1955-1985. He then moved to Maryland for 12 years and retired from Brandywine Sales and Service as a crane operator in 1997, to return back to Ohio and reside in the home he had built in 1954.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rachel Jane (Danielson) Jones; daughters, Carol S. (Rocky) Gamble of Welcome, Md., and Joy D. (Bill) Mertler of Millwood; grandchildren, Bryan D. (Cheryl) Gamble of Odenton, Md., Kevin L. (Christi) Gamble of Newburg, Md., Tara N. (Shane G. Comer) Mertler of Millwood and B.J. Mertler of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Terrance G. Humphrey, Trenton G. Comer, Grant C. Gamble, Baylee R. Comer, Lexie M. Gamble, Luke J. Gamble and Whitney R. Gamble.
He was preceded in death by brother, William Jones; and a sister, Marjorie Gallwitz.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg, where funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., with Pastor Phillip Coblentz officiating. Burial will follow in Eden Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
