UTICA — A chapel service for John R. Addis, 82, of Utica, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at Newark Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Tom Myers officiating.
John died Aug. 27, 2010, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Caldwell to the late Otto and Clara Belle (Wells) Addis. John was a lifelong farmer who farmed with Robert Elliott for many years. He formerly worked at Owens Corning Fiberglas, Granville; and with his son, William.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Chizuko Addis of Utica, William Addis and his fiancee, Sharon Jones, of Pataskala, David and Cindy Addis and Robin and Kay Addis, all of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Freda L. (Sharp) Addis, who passed away May 2, 2010; brothers, Carl, his identical twin, and Chester Addis.
