MOUNT VERNON — Mary F. Grubaugh, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at Knox Community Hospital.
Mary was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Mount Vernon to Bryon and Mabel (Huffman) Purdy. Mary enjoyed rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Reds and any sport her kids, grandkids or great-grandkids were playing. She was a member of several organizations including, The Mother of Twins, Sweet Adeline’s, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and AMVETS Post 95.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, whom she married in 1947, Jim Grubaugh; four sons, Michael, Douglas, Dennis and David (Margie) Grubaugh, all of Mount Vernon; and the joy of her life, her 11 grandchildren, Ian, Nicole, Micha, Lisa, Troy, Sarah, James, Amanda, Julee, Megan and Jaimee; and nine great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brandon, Olivia, Hallee, Annaliese, Walker, Samantha, Zoey and Grady.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Letha May Stillwell; and three brothers, Walter, Bill and Harold Purdy.
Calling hours for Mary will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roger Tickle officiating. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
