NEWARK — A Mass of Christian Burial for James M. Cantlebary, 69, of Newark, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Bob Penhallurick officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
James passed away Sept. 13, 2010, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1941, in Newark, to the late William and Clara (Weisent) Cantlebary. James was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was a self-employed mechanic and also worked for B&O for 10 years, Mount Vernon Ford, and was a postal carrier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Martha (Kraft) Cantlebary, whom he married on Nov. 28, 1964; children, James David (Lori) Cantlebary of Newark, Christopher Michael Cantlebary of St. Louisville, Michelle (Derrick) Leasure of Front Royal, Va., and Maureen Cantlebary of Newark; sisters, Emma Jean (Lionel) Boucher of Newark and Mary (David) Varrasso of Newark; grandchildren, Grant and Elena Leasure of Front Royal, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, William Cantlebary and George Cantlebary; and sister, Eleanor George.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
