MOUNT VERNON — Darrell “Skip” O’Dell, 60, of Plaza Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born Dec. 30, 1949, in Mount Vernon. Skip served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4027 and Moose Lodge of Mount Vernon.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy (Williams) O’Dell; two sons, Randy O’Dell and Andy O’Dell; a daughter, Candy O’Dell; stepson, Matt Emery; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Diane) O’Dell and Brooks O’Dell, both of Mount Vernon; a sister, Phyllis Hubbard of Mount Vernon; and his canine companion, Jake.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pansy (Kern) O’Dell; three brothers, Leslie O’Dell, Robert O’Dell and William O’Dell; a sister, Joan Frye; and his mother-in-law, Arlene Williams.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call two hours prior. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Amity Cemetery.
