DANVILLE — James William McAvene, 92, of Humbert Road, Danville, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born on May 22, 1918, in Connersville, Ind., to William and Mamie (Stevens) McAvene. He was a resident of Loudonville most of his life, and moved to Danville in 1980. He retired from the Flxible Co. after 43 years of service. He was a past vice president of the Central Ohio Walking Horse Association, having trained and showed for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evla Young McAvene; his second wife, Pauline Conner McAvene; and stepsons, Randy and Gary Conner.
He is survived by a son, Jerry McAvene; stepchildren, Larry Conner, Wilma Richert, Terry Dile, LeAnn Kauffman and Sandy Hood; and several grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Loudonville Cemetery. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements; www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
