MANSFIELD — Duane L. Shrimplin, 73, of Mansfield died Oct. 4, 2010.

He was born Dec. 20, 1936, in Mount Vernon, to Leland and Blanche (Luker) Shrimplin. Duane was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and worked 37 years for General Motors. He enjoyed flying as a member of the Cloud Chasers, Prop Nuts in Bellville, Galion Air, and formerly the Mansfield Electric Flyers. He maintained his pilot’s license until 2008.

Survived by son, Jerry (Ronda) Shrimplin of Mansfield; daughter, Diana Beal of Mansfield; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; his best friend and companion, Alice Martin of Shelby; nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his parents; son-in-law, Tim Beal; sister, Yvonne “Bonnie” Sprang.

Friends may call Friday, noon to 1 p.m., in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Pastor Adam Willford will officiate. Military honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow on the funeral home grounds. Visit
