MOUNT VERNON — Robert E. “Bob” Cline, 58, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at the VA Nursing Home in Fort Thomas, Ky., surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 19, 1952, to James R. and Clara L. (Moran) Cline, who preceded him in death. Robert spent 56 years as a resident of Knox County. Robert attended East Knox High School. He received his GED in Germany while serving his country. Robert worked at American National Can from 1975-1998.
Robert will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by two children, Corey Allen Cline and Valine Danielle Cline; one grandson, Isaac; one brother, David (Patty) Cline; three sisters, Helen Wilson, Carolyn (Susie) Cline and Pamela Cline; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Terry Allen. Four sisters, Maxine Cline, Jeannie Allen, Betty McNamara and Shirley Lawrence, and two brothers, Wesley Cline and James Cline Jr., preceded Robert in death.
Robert proudly served his country in the Army from 1972-75, where at one point he was stationed in Germany. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. Robert also enjoyed fishing.
Robert’s request was to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held Oct. 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Vernon AMVETS Post 95 Recreation Building. All of Robert’s family and friends are welcome. Military services will be held promptly at 6 p.m.
