UTICA — A funeral service for Carmel L. Oiler, 75, of Utica will be held Sunday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m. at North Side Church of Christ, 4427 Marion Road NE, Newark, where friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Bruce Hissong will officiate.
Carmel died Oct. 14, 2010, at his residence. He was born July 29, 1935, in Homer to the late Jerry E. and Artie M. (Leonard) Oiler. Carmel was owner and operator of Oiler Meat Processing for 36 years and a member of the Farmer's Lodge 153 F&AM, Fredonia. He was a finish carpenter and a 1954 graduate of Homer High School.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda L. (Fitch) Oiler; son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Diana Oiler, and grandpa’s pride and joy, Zach and Emily Oiler, all of Utica; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Jerry Debevoise of Newark; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Harley, Paul, Elmer and Lloyd Oiler.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the local EMS or Fire Department of one’s choice.
