FAIRBORN — Coletta Gertrude “Colette” Schmidt, born March 24, 1923, died peacefully at her residence in Fairborn, Ohio, on Oct. 19, 2010.
She was born to Charles and Gertrude Miller of Cleveland. She had a brother, Robert Miller, who preceded her in death.
Colette was born and raised in Cleveland, graduated from St. Alexis School of Nursing, met and married her husband, Dr. Delbert C. Schmidt in 1945. They moved to Mount Vernon in 1948, where Dr. Schmidt started his family practice, they made their home and raised their four children. After her husband’s death in 1989, Colette continued to live in Mount Vernon until December 2007, when she moved to the Dayton area to be closer to family. Colette enjoyed golf, loved to shop and to vacation at the beach. Her greatest joy was her family.
Colette is survived by her daughters, Laureene (Jim) Bollinger of Beavercreek, Jody (Eric) Tom of Bellefontaine; sons, Tom (Stephanie) Schmidt of Birmingham, Ala., Doug (Toni Jenkins) Schmidt of Gahanna; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren complete her family.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.
