FREDERICKTOWN — Edith L. “Tod” Carter, 89, of Ebersole Avenue, Fredericktown, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

She was born March 13, 1921, in Gambier to the late Burl and Laura Mae (Jacobs) Lauderbaugh. Edith graduated from Gambier High School and worked for Gorman-Rupp in Bellville. She was a member of the Ann Hill Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Fredericktown Athletic Boosters, senior citizens, widow club, card club all of Fredericktown and the Fredericktown United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Richard Carter of Fredericktown; two daughters, Patricia (Ray) Davis of Fredericktown and Connie (James) Bryant of Centerburg; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Jessie White of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Carter and Ronald Carter; a brother, Everett Lauderbaugh; and four sisters, Miriam Heldman, Ruth Frye, Margaret Fawcett and Mary Broyles.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
