FREDERICKTOWN — Edna Irene Lahmon, 73, of Fredericktown, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at her residence.
She was born May 27, 1937, in Knox County to Earl and Dorothy (Sykes) Lahmon. Edna was a 1955 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had spent her lifetime in Knox County. She had been employed for 16 years at the former Edmont-Wilson Corp. in Mount Vernon and retired after 22 years employment from TRW in Mount Vernon. She also served as a volunteer at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.
Edna was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Mount Vernon and the Women of the Moose at Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.
Although Edna enjoyed many friends, her passion in life was her family.
Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dora and Paul Frye of Mount Vernon, Mable and Robert Melick of Martinsburg and Loretta and John Griffith of Fredericktown; her children were her nieces and nephews, Thomas Eugene Frye, Paul Frye, Connie Sherman, Judy Wilson, Patty Bower, David Melick, Lori Williams Green and Tracy Griffith Wilbur.
Besides her parents, Edna was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rondol Griffith.
A service celebrating the life of Edna Irene Lahmon will be Monday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Pastor Douglas Clark will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the funeral service. Private burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
