MOUNT VERNON — Olga A. Ferrie, 90, of Mount Vernon died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.
Olga was born May 2, 1920, in Jersey City, N.J., to Andrew and Anna (Dolinajec) Kissel. Olga moved to Mount Vernon from Staten Island, N.Y., and was employed as a registered nurse at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church, the Mount Vernon Exchange Club and the Dan Emmett Grange where she served as grange pianist.
Surviving are her sons, William A. (Unwha) Ferrie of Bexley, John D. (Regina) Ferrie, Andrew T. Ferrie and Charles F. (Jeanne) Ferrie, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; her daughter, Joan (Patrick) Hoban of Dichtelbach, Germany; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Emil (Mary Lou) Kissel of Carmel, Calif.; and her sister, Violet (Dave) Benoit of Wilbraham, Mass.
Besides her parents, Olga was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Ferrie Jr. in 1981; son, Richard W. Ferrie; and grandson, Scott Ferrie.
A service celebrating the life of Olga A. Ferrie will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. Inurnment will be Friday, Nov. 5, at noon in Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins, Colo.
