FREDERICKTOWN — Jesse G. Smith Jr., 75, of Mermary Drive, Fredericktown, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Jan. 8, 1935, in DuBois, Pa., to the late Jesse and Nellie (Edner) Smith Sr. Jesse served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He retired in 1999 after 40 years of employment with Cooper Energy Services. Jesse was a member of the Garfield Lodge 559 F&AM of DuBois, Pa., and the Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ruth (Marburger) Smith; two sons, Scott (Jayne) Smith of Omaha, Neb., Don (Tawnya) Smith of Lake Ozark, Mo.; a daughter, Linda (Kevin) Rossman of New Albany; seven grandchildren, Haydon and Audrey Smith, Cooper, Samuel and Jessi Smith and Chloe and Derek Rossman.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Joe Smith.

Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church, 17 S. Main St., Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. The Rev. Michael Smith will be officiating. A private family burial will be held in Forest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church.
