DES MOINES, Iowa — Steven Brent Rine, 52, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010.

He was born on July 21, 1958, in Mount Vernon to Gene and Sharon (Welch) Rine. Steven was a 1976 graduate of Fredericktown High School. He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge 824, the AMVETS Memorial Post 95, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4027. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Steven is survived by his father; two sons, Leroy (Jennifer) Blankenship of Mount Vernon and Mike Rine of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Cindi (Charlie) Parrish of Fredericktown; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Randy Rine of Marion, Jason Rine of Fredericktown and Joey Rine of Fredericktown; four sisters, Sheri (Curt) Doup of Butler, Diana (Tommy) Milligan of Fredericktown, Amanda (Ucef) Rine-Muhammad of New York and Stacey (Ben) Noble of Texas; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon (Welch) Rine.

A celebration of Steven’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the AMVETS Memorial Post 95, 306 W. Chestnut St., Mount Vernon.

The family wishes any memorial contributions be made to any homeless shelter.
