MOUNT VERNON — Edman Ray Beck, 92, of Beech Street, Mount Vernon, passed away at his home on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010.

He was born July 3, 1918, in Mount Vernon to the late Arthur and Effie (Newton) Beck. Edman was employed at Pittsburgh Plate Glass as a Tank Man where he retired in 1958. He was a member of the VFW here in Mount Vernon and served in the Army National Guard from 1940-1945.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Haldeman of Mount Vernon; nieces, Kimberly Beck-Hill and Sondra Sears; and a nephew, Michael Beck.

Besides his parents, Edman was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Shuff; and four brothers, Hubert, Donald, Edward and Arthur Beck.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private graveside service in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of Edman Ray Beck.
