MELBOURNE, Fla. — David Addington Parker, 83, of Melbourne, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Atlantic City, N.J., on March 31, 1927. He grew up in New Jersey and later enlisted in the Navy during World War II. After returning home from the Navy he attended the University of Vermont.
He was a building contractor and loved working with wood and made beautiful furniture and keepsakes that all of his children cherish. He retired from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and moved to Florida in 1995. He was a member of the Advent Lutheran Church in Melbourne, Fla. Before his illness he volunteered at the Daily Bread.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Marilyn Harris Parker of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and nine children that he adored. Loving children left with many wonderful memories are Don Marn and wife, Debbie, of Apple Valley, Michael Marn and wife, Jutta, of Germany, Margy Arck and husband, Phil, of Mount Vernon, Elizabeth Kitchen and husband, Ed, of London, Ohio, Chris Parker and wife, Cindy, Victoria Snyder and husband, Mac, Karen Dewar and husband, Bill, Rebecca Parker, and Melissa Montani of Vermont; sister-in-law, Ruth Cassady of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Don Harris of Newark, Ohio; and a special niece, Kim Harris Roberts, of Newark, Ohio. He also leaves loving grandchildren, Megan Marn, Jared Marn, Michele Orosz, Robin Orcutt, Jessica Marn, Stephanie Clutter, Mandy Clutter, Zach Arck, Alex Arck, Jason Parker, Michael Parker, Joe Anger, Nathan Lesage, Matt Lesage, Brittany Lesage, Ryan Dewar, Tyler Wells, Chelsea Montani, Shane Montani; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A family memorial service will be held Jan. 7, 2011, in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
