MOUNT VERNON — David Ray Jackey, 65, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 10, 2010, at his home.

He was born May 15, 1945, in Sunbury, son of the late Raymond and Flora (Bauer) Jackey. David was a Navy veteran of Vietnam. He retired from Sanoh America in Mount Vernon. David enjoyed fixing things and riding dirt bikes with his son, Jon.

David is survived by his wife, Alice J. (Dexter) Jackey; a son, Jon (Heather) Jackey of Fredericktown; a granddaughter, Jassmine Bayless; grandsons, Damon, Devan and Dane Jackey; a brother, Melvin (Arlene) Jackey of Sunbury; and a sister, Shirley Simpson of Sunbury.

In following with David’s wish, he will be cremated and the family will have a graveside service Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gerald Bell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
