HOWARD — Jake A. Craft, 89, of Brooklawn Drive, Howard, and formerly of Fredericktown, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Country Club Retirement Campus.

He was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Mansfield to the late Charles and Katherine (Snively) Craft. Jake served in the U.S. Army during World War II before returning home to Fredericktown and retiring in 1983 from the J.B. Foote Foundry. He enjoyed photography and boating, but most important to him was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jake was a member of the Batemantown United Methodist Church and Wayne Grange.

He is survived by two sons, Gerald (Melanie) Craft of Fredericktown and Brian (Shelley) Craft of Fredericktown; three daughters, Linda Craft of Fairfield, Kathie (Timothy) Chapman of Mount Vernon and Lisa Craft of Fredericktown; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Aaron, Michael and Sonnet Chapman, Jacob and Emily Craft, Abigail and Annie Craft; and special friend, Marty James.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Craft; a grandson, Jordan Craft; and a brother, Charles Craft.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
