MOUNT VERNON — Gordon L. Braddock, 75, of Mount Vernon, passed away Nov. 21, 2010, at home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 10, 1935, in Mount Vernon to the late Sterling and Mary Edna (Baker) Braddock. He was a 1953 graduate of Fredericktown High School and veteran of the U.S. Navy.
A retired farmer, he loved working his land and for the past seven years soaking up the sunshine in Florida during the winter months. He was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 2555, Farm Bureau, a former director of Central Ohio Milk Co-op, and a former director of the Mount Vernon Farmers Exchange 1985-91.
He is survived by his loving family, his devoted wife of 53 years, Shirley (Heigle) Braddock, son, Michael (Carolyn) Braddock of Findlay, daughter, Vicki (Terry) Brooks of Columbia, Mo., and daughter, Becky Braddock of Waterville; grandchildren, John Michael and Jessica Braddock of Findlay, and Lisa, John Terry and Adam Brooks of Columbia, Missouri. He is also survived by his brother Dale (Mary) Braddock of Fredericktown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond, Wendell, Dalton, Doyle and William Braddock; and an infant daughter, Lisa Ruth Braddock.
Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 26, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Gerald Bell officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
