GAMBIER — Linda Lee Busch, 60, of Gambier, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 21, 2010, at her residence.
She was born in Columbus on Dec. 16, 1949, to the late Dana Eli and Edna Mae (Stephenson) Cline.
Linda spent most of her life taking care of others — whether it was raising sheep with her father, raising paint horses with her husband or just taking care of her family. Linda married her husband, Darrell C. Busch, on the family farm between the Christmas tree and the fuel oil stove on Dec. 15, 1972. Linda managed the family trucking business and was employed for 18 years by East Knox Schools. She served as the manager of the elementary school cafeteria in Bladensburg. Linda took great pride in taking care of all the little ones in her lunch line. She had the ability to put a smile on each child’s face. So much that when she was seen running errands children would run up to her and say “there’s my lunch lady.” She served as a Girl Scout and 4-H advisor. Her work ethic was like no others. Her “spare time” was filled with gardening and canning over a hundred quarts of green beans yearly. She also enjoyed cooking a feast for anyone that was around. One of her greatest joys was spending time on the farm with her three grandbabies, Lane and Shaymus Lashley and Kendall Noël Griffith; and her constant companion, “Cooter,” her Jack Russell.
Linda will be remembered as a loving friend to all that knew her and will be greatly missed.
Linda is survived by her husband of 37 years, Darrell C. Busch; two daughters, Erica (Eric) Lashley and Afton (Travis) Griffith, both reside on the family farm in Gambier. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kyle, Danielle, Lane, Shaymus and Kendall; her little brother, Dan (Bridget) Cline of Gambier; and her nieces and nephews, Danny (Tammy), Bernie, Brandy (Doug), Bryar, Dana, Bryce, Aidyn, Wyatt and Wade.
Friends may call Friday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery.
