Mrs. Bagent passed away Monday, Nov. 22, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born July 12, 1928, in Amity, Ohio, to the late Roxie and Francine (Looker) Keck. Mrs. Bagent began working at the Heisey Plant in Newark at the young age of l5. She worked as a waitress at Watt’s Restaurant in the late l940s and in the Utica High School cafeteria in the l970s where she was known to most of the students as “Sarge.” She was an Avon representative in the Utica area in the 1970s. Mrs. Bagent was a member of many clubs, including the Eagles, Moose, Druids, VFW and American Legion in Newark and Utica. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the many clubs she attended and her special joy was dancing. She also loved gambling, especially trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
She is survived by her daughter, Roxanne L. Bagent; grandson, David (Carrie) McNamara of Newark; granddaughter, Samantha Butcher of Mount Vernon; and her dearly loved and cherished great-grandchild, Dylan McNamara.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Bagent, in 1983; and infant daughter, Lauri Lee Bagent, in 1963.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 59 N. Fifth St., Newark, where Druids Rosina Circle 14 will have services at 10:30 a.m. and the American Legion Post 85 will have services at 10:45 a.m.
