MOUNT VERNON — Helen S. Harmon, 84, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at the Country Club Retirement Campus.
She was born July 17, 1926, in Coshocton County to the late Carl and Ruth (Kent) Baker. Helen was employed at the Meat and Deli at Neff’s Grocery Store for over 30 years and was a member of the AMVETS Post 59 Auxiliary here in Mount Vernon. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her friends at Beech Tree Apartments. She always enjoyed a good time. She liked going for rides in the country, reading and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Jo (Zane) Darling of Bladensburg; her son, Jerry (Karen) Harmon of Dayton; four grandchildren, Bethany Harmon, Matthew Harmon, Troy (Robbin) Darling and Jeanne (Michael) Hogg; and five great-grandchildren, Joel Hogg, Jared Hogg, Justin Lang, Morgan Lang and Kellie Darling.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill E. Harmon; and her brother, Floyd Baker.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a graveside service in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Terry McLaughlin officiating.
