MOUNT VERNON — Kenneth C. De Witt, 72, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Kenneth was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Knox County to Ashton and Gertrude (Robertson) De Witt. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. Kenneth retired from the Quality Control Department of the American National Can Co. in Mount Vernon after 42 years of employment. Kenneth enjoyed gardening, golfing, and building and flying radio-controlled aircraft. He was a member of the Licking County Radio Control Club.
Surviving are his wife, Diana (Fry) De Witt, whom he married April 23, 1959; his daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Craig Sparks of Powell and Loretta and Joseph Redden of Hilliard; and his grandchildren, Cassandra Sparks, Nicholas Sparks and Zachary Redden.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, R. Neil De Witt; brother, Hubert De Witt and sisters, Martha Ransom and Kathleen De Witt.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David De Witt officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
