MOUNT VERNON — Karen S. Simpson, 62, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving husband and daughter.

She was born Feb. 13, 1948, in Mount Vernon to the late William “Bud” and Mary (Walker) Sloan. Karen was a 1966 graduate of Danville High School and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She enjoyed gardening and spending quality time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Jerry L. Simpson; her daughter, Jodi (George) Newton of Utica; and a brother, Roger (Kay) Sloan of Riverside.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Karol Simpson.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. The Rev. Terry McLaughlin will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
