MOUNT VERNON — Charles M. “Chuck” Travis, 51, of Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 23, 1959, in Columbus to Charles L. and Merrilyn (Stanley) Travis. Chuck previously worked at Ohio Steel Industries. He enjoyed fishing, mustang automobiles and astronomy. Chuck will be sadly missed by his family.

He is survived by his mother; his wife of 32 years, Karen (Baker) Travis; three sons, Jeremy (Stephanie) Travis, Brandon (Brandy) Travis and Mitch (Blaire Skaggs) Travis, all of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Nathen and Keith Travis; two brothers, Harold Travis of Alexandria and Jeff (Brenda) Travis of Columbus; and two sisters, Becky (Wayne) Rister of Wheelersburg and Tammy Saunders of Prospect.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Elsworth will be officiating. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany.
