MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy Mae Chopson, 80, of Mount Vernon, passed away Dec. 15, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born April 20, 1930, in Newark to the late David and Mary (Riley) Poulton.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Charles Chopson Jr., whom she would have been married to for 60 years on Dec. 17, 2010. Also surviving are her children, Sally (Rick) Whitt and David (Dee Dee) Chopson, both of Mount Vernon, Shirley (Darrell) Pruett of Sunbury, Norma (Joe) Johnson, Betty (Steve) Follett, Ricky Chopson, Joyce (Chris) Sheridan and John (Karri) Chopson, all of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren, Susan Pruett, Wayne Pruett, Tommy Pruett, Tammy Pruett, Sarah Whitt, Samantha Sheridan and Laura Sheridan; great-grandchildren, Clayton, Connor, Haley, Faith, Hayden, Austin, Isaac, Aaron, Ali, Seth, Garret, Katerina and Nikita; and three sisters, Ruth (Kelli) Raines of Homer, Helen Collinsford of Florida and Leona Poulton of Mount Vernon.

Her brother, David Poulton, preceded her in death.

There will be no calling hours or services at this time. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Chopson family.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214.
