UTICA — Lowell C. Lupher, 78, of Utica, died Dec. 15, 2010, at The Selma Markowitz Care Center.

At Lowell’s request, there will be no viewing or graveside service. The family will hold a celebration of life open to the public at Law-Baker Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Lowell was born April 6, 1932, in Utica to the late Preston C. and Mary (Pry) Lupher. He worked at Rockwell International, Utica Miller Co., Velvet Ice Cream and Utica Holophane, and he served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Betty I. (Watson) Lupher; stepchildren, Howard Ludwig Jr., Edward Ludwig, Tami Ludwig and Michael Ludwig; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Lupher; sisters-in-law, Rowena Lupher and Jean Lupher; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Donald and Richard.
